Our team brings together students from over 10 different majors and minors—ranging from biomedical engineering to public health to data science, representing both the School of Engineering and the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Virginia.
Patient-centered: We aim to create maximum value using minimal resources. Our solutions are designed to be cost-effective, scalable, and long-lasting, especially in resource-constrained or underserved settings.

Interdisciplinary: We believe that the best solutions are developed when a problem is approached together from diverse perspectives. We gain inspiration from engineering, medicine, public policy, and beyond to foster creativity and more holistic problem-solving.
We approach problem-solving first through a deep dive on problems faced by patients and practitioners in our community. From there, we partner with community experts in a collaborative design process —researching, brainstorming, and shaping solutions together to ensure that they are both clinically sound and practically useful in real-world settings. Once ideas take form, we move into prototyping and testing, with continuous collaboration with physicians, UVA faculty, and Charlottesville community members to refine our process. This ongoing partnership ensures that the final solution isn’t just innovative, but effective, sustainable, and tailored to the client's unique needs.
